Power of Motion Physical Therapy
Post-Surgical Physical Therapy & Recovery
Lincoln, NE · Programs
Recovering from orthopedic surgery is a process, and the quality of your rehabilitation directly shapes your outcome. Power of Motion Physical Therapy provides structured, one-on-one post-surgical care that follows your surgeon's specific protocol while progressing you safely and efficiently back to full strength and function. Led by Daniel Crowe, PT, DPT, OCS, a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with 13 years of experience.
Areas covered: ACL & ligament reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, total knee replacement, total hip replacement, total shoulder replacement, spinal fusion & discectomy, meniscus & labral repair, fracture fixation recovery.
Why post-surgical rehab matters as much as the surgery itself
A successful surgery is only half of the outcome — what happens in the weeks and months afterward determines how much strength, motion, and function you actually get back. Poorly managed post-surgical rehab is one of the most common reasons patients don't reach their full potential after an otherwise successful procedure.
What to expect at Power of Motion
Surgeon protocol coordination — your program follows your surgeon's specific post-operative guidelines and timeline, adjusted as you progress through each phase of healing.
Phase-appropriate progression — early-stage focus on protecting the surgical site and managing swelling, advancing methodically toward strength and full function as tissue healing allows.
Hands-on, 1-on-1 care — every session is conducted directly with Dr. Crowe, ensuring careful, accurate progression through each healing phase.
Return to full function — whether your goal is daily activities, work, or returning to sport, your final phase of rehab is built around your specific demands.
-
This varies significantly by procedure and your surgeon's specific protocol — some post-surgical rehab begins within days, while others wait several weeks. We coordinate directly with your surgeon's guidelines to ensure your program starts at the right time for your specific procedure.
-
Timelines vary widely by procedure. Many soft tissue repairs (meniscus, rotator cuff) take 3–6 months to full recovery. Joint replacements typically take 3–4 months to return to most activities. ACL reconstruction generally requires 9–12 months for a full return to high-demand sports. Your therapist will give you a realistic timeline specific to your surgery at your first visit.
-
Yes. Coordinating with your surgical team is a standard part of post-surgical care, ensuring your rehabilitation stays aligned with their specific protocol and any restrictions or precautions for your procedure.
-
Some discomfort and swelling is a normal part of post-surgical recovery, but certain symptoms — such as a sudden increase in pain, signs of infection, or significant new swelling — should be reported to your surgeon promptly. We will help you understand what to expect at each stage and flag anything that warrants a call to your surgical team.
-
Nebraska allows direct access to physical therapy without a physician referral, though many post-surgical patients are referred directly by their surgeon as part of standard care. Some insurance plans may also require a referral for reimbursement — check with your insurer prior to your first visit.
-
An Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) has passed a rigorous specialty examination from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge in orthopedic diagnosis and treatment.
-
A full evaluation with Dr. Crowe covering your surgical history, your surgeon's protocol, and your current limitations, followed by an individualized plan to guide your recovery. No hand-off to aides.
